Muahaha, for the past 8 months of holiday I only managed to go overseas for a holiday for ONCE with my family to Phuket despite my ambitious plans for diving & stuff. For the lack of licensed scuba divers in my social circle.
And, on the all so awaited National Day, I went to some kelong off uluated Pulau Sibu (or maybe I am just suaku enough not to have heard of this island before). For what? TO FISH!
I have never ever fished in my life. And the trip there was terrible with the jam at the causeway and all. We were even lost on the way to the jetty. :( and ended up arriving
HOT BOYS KELONG at 2pm instead of like 11am :(
Oh wells, anyway..we found our way cos some mysterious men suddenly stopped by our two stranded cars and gave us directions. Out the blue, and later we saw them walk off, with no apparent reasons why they chose to stop by along that stretch of road we were at. So we ended up guessing if they were angels :) LOL
Went island hopping from the kelong and our beach volleyball session became pick-the-ball-before-it-rolls-into-the-sea session :S haha
and our captain's ball session became so tiring for me since i broke the record for picking up the ball from the sea the most no. of times in 10 mins. I just hugged the ball and lie down on the sand whenver the ball rolled to my feet amongst chaos and confusion.
haha, best part of all was the waves.. was so fun. to wait for the big waves (ok, just a little larger & stronger than singaporean ones) and to swim and ride on the waves :)
Meiyi was like super good in conning people to come down and get soaked with us. HAH. slowly slowly they end up in the neck deep sea.
I fished the moment I reached the kelong, for like 10min and caught one mini fish. haha, without bait or anything :p beginners' luck
and I was outwitted by the fishies for the rest of they day, when I just keep putting my sotong baits and they just keep eating off my hook, without being hooked :( bleahh. Thanks to the auntie that showed me how to fish with bait, and Xiaoqing who taught me how to use the fishing rod too. :)
This morning's sunrise was a bit of disappointment. It was covered by the P.Sibu landmass, so when we got to see the sun it was like bright and yellow, not round and red liaos :( but the waiting time was pretty beautiful, the colours in the clouds and all :)
It's really nice to live on the sea, and wake up early in the morning. Just need one more thing: a husband to hunt and fish for a living!
oh, and a boat/kelong too.
I fished for a while during breakfast again and caught like 3 more fishies.
One of them was like poisonous or something. It had a thick sharp horn protruding out of its head, striped black and brown..and diamond shaped body. Any pros knows what that fish? I got a picture, will post it sometime later baa
And since it's National Day, and most of us part time kelongers there were Singaporean, the Kelong man acutally bought a box of fireworks and lit it up. Just for the fun of it. Was so super cool, I was like only 20m away from the fireworks box. Very noisy, and initially there was a crowd in front of me. By the time the fireworks had ended, everyone was like 5m behind me. HAH, couldnt get camera in time.
Though we had fun, the fishermen were like sian diaos cos the big fish that comes out at night would have been scared off by our fireworks celebration. :P OOPS.
but I heard there were like loads of sotong that night.
And I finally understand the phrase 'blur like sotong'.
NO BAIT ONE, they still will get caught..many shouts of "我们捉到很大条的Sotong Leh!" rang through the kelong that night. :P
Oh well, great experience, great retreat.
School's next.
And guess what, I AM in pharmacy :S
Thank You Lord, now I know what is persistent prayer.
knock and the door will be opened to you having in the mind that guy who didn't make it in to Pharmacy and who's dad wrote into Forum..Your words become so much more true to my life
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.-Guay Sit Tan <3
